Copying and Scanning

Access to Department copy machines for printing course materials and scanning exams can be requested at both the Soda Hall and Cory Hall Front Desks. A Cal1 ID Card is required to borrow keys and cards necessary for using the machines. You are expected to return these items promptly after you have finished your job.  For in-depth instructions:

Exam & Copy Requests

EECS Course Support prints exams and quizzes only. Submit exam/quiz copy requests to the Secure Copies form.

Discussion sections must be printed by course staff. Copy cards for each course are available at the Main Office in 253 Cory Hall M-F 8:00am – 12:00pm, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Copies are printed in black and white only. Optimize files for black and white printing.

Copy Request Lead Time

Saturday & Sunday Wednesday (following week)

*note holidays or campus disruptions will impact delivery times

All copy requests must be sent one full business day (48 hours) before the delivery deadline. For example, if you need the copies to be delivered by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, the requests should be sent to the Course Support Team any time on the preceding Tuesday. Because our team does not work over the weekend, requests needed on Monday should be sent on Thursday prior, i.e. copies that need to be delivered by 8:00 a.m. on Monday should be sent any time on the preceding Thursday, which allows us to ensure on-time delivery.

Late submissions may still be processed, time permitting, but the delivery time cannot be guaranteed. If you are unable to meet the deadline, you may use the copy rooms to make copies by picking up a copy card in the Cory or Soda Hall Front Offices on weekdays, 8 am-12 pm, 1 pm-4 pm.

Portable Scanning

Portable scanners are now available for exam scanning. A department laptop can be requested or a personal computer can be used, which requires a free software/drivers download. Request to check out  portable scanner(s) by emailing: course-support@eecs.berkeley.edu

Storing and Disposing of Final Exams

Final exams must be retained for 13 months after they are taken.  Midterms and other course materials do not need to be saved.  Scans uploaded to Gradescope are sufficient; the paper exams do not need to be saved in that case. The department does not store exams. If there is a pedagogical need for classes under 50 students to access exams or quizzes, they can be made available at 253 Cory Hall.

Disposal

Midterms, final exams older than 13 months, and paper copies of final exams that have been scanned and uploaded to Gradescope can all be disposed of by dropping them off at the Cory Hall Front Desk.  If there is a large volume of course material to shred, request a pickup by emailing eecs-course-support@eecs.berkeley.edu.
